Arlington Court and The National Trust’s Carriage Collection (No Comments)

Regency house set within a 2,700 acre estate full of wildlife including deer park and renowned for its rare lichens, bats, dormice, hares, otters and owls. The estate also accommodates the National Trust’s internationally important collection of 50 horse-drawn carriages within the Stable Block.

Avebury (No Comments)

Managed by the National Trust and under guardianship of English Heritage, Avebury stone circle is a world heritage site. Some of the stones were re-erected in the 1930s by the archaeologist Alexander Keiller.

You are able to walk up to the stones and touch them as well as watch audio-visual displays bringing the history of this important site to life.

Also within this area are other important buildings: the 16th-century dovecote, 17th-century thatched threshing barn and stables, nearby is Windmill Hill which was once the site of an important Neolithic settlement which has many well-preserved Bronze Age burial mounds.
