About Farne Islands

The Farne Islands are small rocky islands which are home to more than 100,000 pairs of breeding seabirds. These include 55,000 pairs of puffins. The Islands are one of Europe’s most important seabird reserves.

Usually up to 23 species of birds nest annually as well as a colony of greay seals.

Remember to take a hat! Snacks and drinks due to no cafe and sensible clothing and footwear as the weather can change quickly. Binoculars are a must.

Best visiting months are April/May & June until end of July which is the Summer breeding season.

Facilities

Suitable for school groups, Access by ferry, WC on Inner Farne only.
