About George Stephenson’s Birthplace

Birthplace of the famous railway engineer.

Small stone tenement that was built in 1760 to house mining families. Whole families would live in one room. The furnishings reflecting the year of Stephenson’s birth (1781).

Facilities

Tea-room, Pushchairs permitted, Children’s quiz/trail, Suitable for school groups.
